Questions about your visit?

Learn more about our eye exams, premium frames, quality lenses and personalized optical services. Our team is here to help you prepare for your appointment.

How often do I need an eye exam?

Adults are recommended to have an eye exam every two years. Children under 19 years of age are covered by OHIP one a year for an eye exam. If you are being followed for a medical reason like diabetes, glaucoma, retinal detachment etc. your appointments may be more frequent.

How do I know if I need glasses?

Changes to vision are the biggest indicator that glasses may help you in your daily activities. Difficulty focusing in the distance, or when reading can be a sign that you may need glasses. There are lenses specifically designed for driving at night, with or without prescription lenses.

Are single-vision, bifocal, or progressive lenses better?

Depending on your daily activities and prescription we can recommend a lens design that will best suit your needs. Single vision will correct at one focal point distance or reading. Bifocals can correct in two focal points distance and reading in the same lens. Progressives allow for correction in three focal points allowing for uninterrupted vision in distance, intermediate and reading.

Do I need anti-reflective coatings or blue light filters?

All of our lenses include an anti-reflective and UV coating as they improve the quality of vision. Blue filter is an option often recommended for those working on digital devices for most of their day, or for those prone to migraines.

Should I choose glasses or contact lenses?

Glasses are always recommended as the visual acuity is better. Even if you wear contacts frequently, it can be helpful to have a pair of glasses on hand in case of emergency.

How do I know if my glasses fit properly?

We take into consideration the fit of the lens over the pupil, centration here is key especially with strong prescriptions. The fit on the bridge should not have any gaps and ideally follow the natural shape of the nose. The browline should be complementary to your features and the eyebrows should be visible above the frame. The arms of your glasses should be long enough to be adjusted behind your ear.
